MILES CITY, Mont. (AP) — A former sixth-grade teacher in Miles City has denied allegations that he engaged in online sexual conversations with someone he thought was a teenage girl.
The Miles City Star reports 31-year-old Brian Thompson pleaded not guilty July 12 to sexual abuse of children and solicitation of sex abuse of children. Both charges were filed after an alleged chat room conversation with a North Dakota police officer posing as a 14-year-old.
Prosecutors allege Thompson at first cautioned the "girl" to be careful in the chat room, but weeks later steered the conversation toward sex.
Thompson's computer was searched on March 27. He was suspended with pay the next day. School officials say he has since resigned.
