  • GRAND FORKS, N.D. (AP) — A man stopped in North Dakota because police thought he was a suspect in a North Carolina attempted murder turned out to simply share one of the wanted man's names.
U.S. Border Patrol agent Brian Pigg tells the Grand Forks Herald Monday that the detained man "was all clear." The man had the same name as an alias used by the North Carolina suspect.
The detained man, who was driving a light blue van, crossed into North Dakota at the U.S. border crossing at Pembina, N.D., prompting law enforcement to intercept. He was not identified.
Dozens of vehicles were backed up in the southbound lanes on Interstate 29 shortly after 11 a.m.
