BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Police officers and family have dedicated a memorial to a Bismarck officer killed in the line of duty.
The memorial plaque to Steve Kenner was dedicated Sunday, on the one-year anniversary of his death. The veteran officer was shot and killed while responding to a domestic dispute on July 8, 2011.
The man who shot Kenner, Steven Bannister, has entered an Alford plea to murder. The plea is treated as a conviction for sentencing purposes and Bannister could face life in prison without parole.
