FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Officers with the Cass County Sheriff's Office in North Dakota were among about 5,000 people evacuated from a hotel in Tennessee following a gas explosion.
The blast at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel and Convention Center happened Tuesday night. Authorities say it appeared there was a gas leak that ignited in a mechanical room in the convention part of the hotel.
Authorities ruled out suspicious activity. No injuries were reported, and guests were allowed back in early Wednesday.
Hundreds of sheriffs from around the country are at the convention center for a National Sheriffs' Association conference. Cass County Sheriff Paul Laney was named sheriff of the year during the event, and more than 50 co-workers, family and friends were on hand.
