  • The Impact-Cando Connection Fund is challenging Cando and the surrounding area to step up to support the new radiology suite purchase for the Towner County Medical Center by matching financial contributions up to a maximum of $5,000.
This challenge started with all contributions received since June 18, 2012.
The system currently in use is refurbished equipment purchased in 1995.  After 17 years of service, the equipment is no longer reliable and is considered obsolete in the medical industry.
As reported in an earlier article, there were several days in March 2012 that the system was down while waiting for parts.  The Medical Center was fortunate that no trauma cases needed immediate x-rays during this time.  Additionally, without the capacity to perform diagnostic x-rays at the medical center, the facility could lose their level 5 trauma status, resulting in area citizens having to travel longer distances to have an x-ray.
In order for the Medical Center to continue to provide the diagnostic services that they have in the past, a new radiology suite needs to be purchased.
The employee-led “Rising to the Challenge” New Radiology Suite Campaign has a goal of $85,000 to be used for this new equipment.
To make a charitable gift to the campaign send the donation to the Towner County Medical Center – New Radiation Suite Project, PO Box 688, Cando, ND 58324.
Because of the generosity of the Impact-Cando Connection Fund and their donors, the contribution will be matched.  Fundraisers are also being planned over the next two months to provide opportunities to participate in the campaign.
Impact Foundation, Fargo, ND, is a nonprofit organization serving residents in North Dakota and western Minnesota.  The foundation’s mission is to build the capacity of nonprofits, businesses and individuals to maximize their community impact.  Impact Foundation has waived its administrative processing fees so that 100% of the funds raised for the Impact-Cando Connection Fund go directly to the Cando area.  For more information, see www.impactgiveback.org.  For more information on the Impact-Cando Connection Fund, visit www.candoconnection.org.
