  • BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) — An Aurora man who saved another person from a burning car after a collision in eastern Brookings says his instincts kicked in.
Fifty-four-year-old Dan Hintz was driving from his Aurora home to a church service in Brookings when he saw an SUV hit a station wagon near Interstate 29.
    The accident happened early Sunday.
Hintz tells The Argus Leader that he instinctively pulled the unconscious driver from the station wagon, even though the driver's legs were pinned. The three people in the SUV were not seriously injured.
Says Hintz, "The adrenaline was going and I couldn't stand there and watch a guy burn."
The driver was taken to a Brookings hospital and then a Sioux Falls hospital. The extent of his injuries is unknown.
