Another recruit has been added to the incoming class at Lake Region State College.
Women’s basketball coach Duane Schwab recently announced the addition of Emma Weinreich to this year’s class of 11 standouts to announce their intentions to enroll at the school and play basketball for the Lady Royals.
“She has some really impressive credentials,” Schwab said of his most recent recruit. “She averaged a double-double and can really run the floor well.”
Weinreich, a six-foot, one-inch post player, attended Arroya Grande High School in Pismo Beach, Calif. and drew plenty of attention from Division 1 schools, including the University of North Dakota, where her sister, Christine, recently completed her eligibility in track. The newest Lady Royal also has a twin brother, Garrett, who has signed to play football this fall at Oregon State. Another brother, Jon, played football at the University of West Alabama.
“She comes from a very athletic family,” Schwab said.
Weinreich, who played volleyball as a freshman, earned three varsity letters as a prepster and led her team to the semifinals of the California state tournament this past season. She was a two-time all league selection in high school and was chosen all-state as a junior.
