Juanita Roberts, 88, of Oberon, ND, died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in Devils Lake.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Free Lutheran Church in Minnewaukan, ND, with Pastor Luther Mathison officiating. Interment will be in the Antelope Valley Lutheran Cemetery rural Oberon. Military rites will be accorded by the North Dakota National Guard Funeral Honors Team. Visitation will be Wednesday at the church an hour before the funeral.
Juanita Harmon was born April 17, 1924 at Rimbey, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of James Edward and Amanda Elise (Nesset) Harmon. At the age of nine, the family moved to Hesper, ND, where Juanita was educated and graduated from high school. Juanita served as a WAF in the Air Force during WWII. She returned to the Maddock area following the war and married Ernest Buehler. They were the parents of a son and daughter, Lee and Karen. The family lived for a time in Oberon and then moved back to Maddock.
Following Ernest’s death, she continued to live in Maddock and work as a nurse’s aid at the Memorial Hospital until 1971.
Juanita married Roger Roberts on November 10, 1972 at Maddock. The couple lived and farmed near Oberon.
Juanita was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Oberon and the Gerald Haskin’s American Legion Post #122 and Auxiliary of Oberon. She enjoyed music, cooking, fishing, planting fruit trees, gardening and canning. Juanita will long be remembered for baking buns.
Surviving are her husband, Roger of Oberon; daughter, Karen Carlson of Devils Lake; a brother, Myron (Ann) Harmon of Seattle, WA; sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law, Anna Harmon of Maddock, Delores Stack and Jean Olson, both of Minot, June (Leroy) Sabbe of Harvey, ND and Marlene (John) Miller of Gilbert, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ernest Buehler; son, Lee Buehler on August 11, 2011 and five brothers, Chester, Howard, Kenny, Art and Eugene Harmon.
