  • Lake Region State College’s 2012 commencement exercises will be held Friday, May 11th at 10:00 am in Robert Fawcett Auditorium on the LRSC campus. About 170 students are eligible to walk through the ceremony having earned a certificate, diploma, or associate’s degree.
Lily Gannon will represent the graduating class of 2012 with an address. Lake Region State College alumna Autumn Graber of Graber Media also will address graduates and guests.
Gannon, of Warwick, ND, was honored earlier this year as one of 50 students within the country selected to be a Coca Cola Academic Team Gold Scholar. Gannon received the award through Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society which administers the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Program and recognizes Coca-Cola Community College scholars.
As a highly recognized award, recipients are determined after special consideration of outstanding academic rigor, grade point average, academic and leadership awards, and involvement in both the college and community.
Gannon will graduate with honors and receive an Associate in Arts degree. She plans to transfer to the University of Mary in the fall seeking to further her education in the biology field.
Joining Gannon at the podium will be Autumn Graber, an LRSC alumna and successful business owner.
Along with her husband Kelly Graber, Autumn is the owner of Graber Media. Graber Media publishes the area’s quarterly women’s publication, Lake Region Woman, as well as the bimonthly women’s publication, Grand Cities Woman for the Grand Forks area. Autumn is the editor in chief as well as photography, writer, and designer for both publications.
Autumn began her career in communications as a radio announcer with KZZY in Devils Lake. After graduating from Lake Region State College and transferring to Minnesota State University – Moorhead, she continued her work on the radio as “Polly Wog” on Froggy 99.9 in Fargo and transitioned into a career in television.
After graduating from MSUM with a BS in Mass Communication and emphasis in Broadcast Journalism, Autumn worked as an editor for Video Arts Studios and Media Productions in Fargo and for the next 12 years, honed her editing skills on projects such as television commercials, sales and marketing campaigns, television shows for Discovery Health Channel, and ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Autumn is a 2009 graduate of The Chamber Leadership Program, nominated for Microsoft Business Solutions Vendor of the Year in Customer Service for 2002, and has been recognized by the North Dakota Professional Communicators and the MSUM Academic Conference.
She is currently serving her final year on the Board of Directors for the American Advertising Federation of North Dakota. Her term as president of AAF-ND was very successful with the award of “Club of the Year,” competing against clubs from South Dakota, Wisconsin, and Minnesota.
Following the ceremony a reception honoring the graduates and their families will be held in the Lake Region State College Dining Room.
