FARGO, N.D. — Chris Fixen led a group of Devils Lake golfers with solid scores, but it wasn’t enough as the Firebirds finished well off the pace at the Fargo South Invitational on Tuesday at Rose Creek Golf Course in Fargo.
Fargo Shanley and West Fargo tied for the team lead in the meet after both the Deacons and Packers scored 308s on the day. Fargo Davies (319), Grand Forks Red River (320) and Wahpeton (321) rounded out the top five schools. Devils Lake finished 10th with a score of 352. Grand Forks Central’s Ty Kennady was the medalist after carding a 73 to edge West Fargo’s Riley Johnson by one stroke for the top spot.
Fixen went out with a 44 over the first nine holes and then improved to a 43 after making the turn and closing the day with an 87. Jace Greene and Chris Dahlen both carded 88 on the day and Nick Brockman finished right behind with an 89.
